Most of the collection materials relate to the authenticity of the attribution of a painting, titled "Ecce Mater," to Correggio. Collection includs a typescript copy of her book Authenticating an Old Master, and a Feb. 1919 issue of The International Studio containing an article by Gauthier, which appears to be an excerpt from the book. Also included are correspondence, research notes, and photo reproductions of Correggio's work. One file contains Gauthier's genealogy of the Spifame family, who she believed to be the second owners of the "Ecce Mater" painting, covering the 14th - 17th centuries. Also included are a typescript copy of Gauthier's photoplay "Benvenuto Cellini, a Romance of the Middle Ages" in 7 parts (screenplay for a silent movie); and documents from the Library of Congress granting her copyright to her booklet "Minnesota Capitol Official Guide and History."
